Groundbreaking Begins for £18.8 Million Skills and Innovation Hub in Suffolk

Work has commenced on an innovative £18.8 million skills and innovation centre at the Gateway 14 business park near Stowmarket, Suffolk, marked by a ceremonial groundbreaking event.
Funding and Support:
The project is primarily financed by Freeport East, alongside contributions from the Mid Suffolk District Council. Both Richard Winch of the council and Steve Beel, CEO of Freeport East, emphasized the centre’s potential benefits for the local and regional economy.
Centre Features:
The three-storey facility, expected to be operational by mid-2024, will cover 35,000 square feet and provide office space for startups, functioning as a central hub for various businesses in the area.

Beel noted the centre’s advantageous location near Felixstowe and its accessibility to several prestigious regional universities, which could attract talent and skilled employees to support local businesses.
