Festive Travel Chaos: Heathrow Flights Canceled Amid High Winds and Weather Woes

As millions travel across the UK for Christmas, strong winds are disrupting travel plans, particularly at Heathrow Airport, where around 100 flights were canceled on Sunday. Passengers are being urged to check the status of their flights ahead of their journeys. The adverse weather has not only impacted air travel but also caused widespread cancellations of ferry services across the Irish Sea and along the Scottish coast, road closures for high-sided vehicles, and adjustments to rail services.

However, ongoing engineering projects will lead to rail closures over the festive season, impacting travel to several locations including Luton Airport. Amid these challenges, the Rail Delivery Group explained that these closures are strategically scheduled as the overall travel volume tends to drop during this period.
