Breaking Barriers: Historic Appointment of First Female Leaders in Guernsey Business Association
In a historic move, the Guernsey International Business Association (GIBA) has appointed women to top leadership roles for the first time in its 44-year history. Jo Peacegood has been appointed as the chair, while Helen Wyatt takes on the role of deputy chair. Peacegood, who previously led the Guernsey Investment and Funds Association, expressed her eagerness to support growth and resilience within Guernsey’s financial sector, emphasizing a commitment to collaboration, innovation, and maintaining high standards.
Wyatt, a partner in the corporate practice at Mourant Ozannes (Guernsey) LLP, brings valuable legal expertise with an emphasis on financial services regulatory matters. The former chair, Paul Sykes, will retain a council position after his term, praising the qualifications and experience of Peacegood and Wyatt. This shift not only marks a new chapter for GIBA but also highlights the significance of female leadership in an industry that employs over 7,500 professionals, making it a vital sector for the island’s economy. The association acts as the collective voice of the financial services industry, underscoring the importance of these new appointments.
