The Sandon – A Jewel In Liverpool’s Crown
The Sandon – A jewel In Liverpool’s Crown
If Liverpool didn’t already stand out on the world map, it certainly does now after another highly successful season for Liverpool Football Club. Anfield, the club’s home ground, is a way of life for those who follow the trials and tribulations of their beloved club. Sitting alongside the ground is the locally run Sandon Complex, which dates back to the early 1870’s. The Complex is regarded as an essential watering hole before every game by both locals and visitors from all over the world, in fact last season the venue saw around 80% of its hotel guests had ventured from outside the UK during Champion’s League games, and 40% for league ties. Overall, visitors to The Sandon came from a grand total of 35 countries over the past 12 months -something which is a great testimony to both the venue and the city as a whole.
The Sandon proudly employs local people, all of whom live within 10 miles of the venue, even the owner is a popular local. In 2017, Kate Stewart took over the venue with big expansion plans, and true to her word Kate has increased The Sandon’s offering to a multitude of groups. Kate said: “On a week night you’ll struggle to find a city centre hotel for six people cheaper than £450, whereas we can accommodate that group for £120 and offer more.”
Kate says that because of The Sandon’s association with Liverpool Football Club as an official hospitality partner, they have seen a large increase in corporate bookings. The Sandon offers affordable accommodation coupled with discounted stadium tours, five function rooms and an electric atmosphere come match days. With the Complex a short 10-minute drive from the city centre guests are in a prime location to get the best of both worlds.
