Spain has announced that it will open its borders back up with no 14 day quarantine.

With many European countries dependant on tourism lockdown is now beginning to lift. Italy has announced it will reopen its borders on June 3, whilst Iceland are eyeing up mid June, and Greece early July.

Spains Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has said that from July 1, foreign visitors will be allowed to visit Spain without the need to quarantine for fourteen days. Sanchez pledged that the government would guarantee that “tourists will not run any risks, nor will they bring any risk to our country”, and invited tourists to begin planning holidays in Spain.

Although nothing is set in stone, it’s still a step in the right direction for Spain, which attracts around 80 million visitors each year. However, even with the quarantine restrictions lifted, will people still want to risk travelling or prefer a staycation in the UK? Only time will tell…
