Liverpool’s first Football Quarter close to opening thanks to Signature Living.
Liverpool is famed for its rich musical heritage, boasting numerous statues around the city center such as the Beatles that stand before the iconic three graces and Cilla Black on Matthew Street. Of course, Liverpool is also renowned for its incredible footballing heritage so it’s great to hear that Signature Living are creating Liverpool’s first football quarter, right in the heart of the city. The Shankly Hotel on Victoria Street is one of the busiest hotels in the area, and it’s about to get a neighbor right opposite in the form of the Dixie Dean Hotel, due to open in June this year. The hotel will feature 100 rooms and an Everton themed restaurant and bar on the ground floor accompanied by some Dixie Dean memorabilia that has never been seen before.
With both hotels adorning the bottom end of Victoria Street, Signature Living have once again added something unique to the city by creating Liverpool’s very own ‘Football Quarter’, which will behold life-size bronze statues of both Dixie Dean and Bill Shankly outside each hotel. Co-founder Katie Kenwright said ‘both Anfield and Goodison have statues of Shankly and Dean outside their grounds, but nothing in the city center until now. People love getting pictures with the Beatles statues so we wanted to create something special that everyone can enjoy, right in the middle of Liverpool.’
The Dixie Dean hotel is a partnership between the Signature Living Hotel Group along with Barbara Dean and Melanie Prentice, Dean’s daughter and granddaughter, respectively. Dean will attend special events at the hotel to talk about her father and his footballing career, while Prentice has been appointed guest relations director of the hotel.
