Johnson And Johnson Single-Dose Vaccine 100% Effective At Preventing Deaths And Hospitalisations

US Company Johnson & Johnson has produced a single-dose vaccine that 100 per cent effective at preventing deaths and hospitalisations from COVID-19, of which the UK has ordered 30 million doses.

The trial consisted of 44,000 people and was conducted by the company's subsidiary Janssen, based in the Netherlands, they also found the vaccine prevented 66 per cent of moderate to severe cases of COVID-19.

The company said the jab worked across multiple variants of coronavirus, including the South African variant which has been worrying scientists.

On Twitter, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said "This is yet more good news from Janssen on vaccines. If this jab is approved this could significantly bolster our vaccination programme, especially as a single-dose vaccine."
